Tracking a warm week, storms by Friday night into Saturday
TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the lower 60s.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
EXTENDED: With some cloud coverage and light southeast winds, we remain in the low 60s overnight. Tomorrow looks hotter with more sunshine poking through clouds, getting temperatures into the upper 70s to low 80s. High pressure pushes north across the region through the rest of the week, bringing temperatures 10+ degrees above average and keeping skies dry. Friday is the hottest day with temperatures soaring into the low to mid-80s. A strong low pressure system swings across the Plains, with moisture trying to stream in ahead of it as dew points climb into the 60s. That will allow for some showers and storms to develop Friday night into Saturday morning. If the front progresses quickly, we could end up drier on Saturday afternoon. A slower progression could mean we could see instability increase ahead of the front on Saturday afternoon, leading to the potential of at least a few strong storms. Right now, the best ingredients look to set up just to our southeast, but the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk extending from about Highway 63 and east, all the way down through southern Missouri. Even if we don't see any severe weather, we'll pick up a decent amount of rain, with amounts landing between 1-1.5" between Friday night and Saturday. We'll finally be seasonably cooler on the other side of the front with highs back into the upper 60s on Sunday with lows falling into the 40s.
