Tracking a dose of autumn-like air after a chance for rain
TODAY: Tuesday is cool and cloudy for most of the day. A cold front actively working through the region this morning, will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms, but in spotty to scattered fashion at most. Many will remain dry this morning, but a chance for rain lingers along the front until it passes. Some will have a sunrise to the east before the front moves in from the west. Clouds will be thickest near the front, so some sunshine may break through in the morning before it arrives. Clouds will clear behind the cold front this evening from northwest to southeast. Clouds and northerly air returning will keep highs in the upper 60s for most.
TONIGHT: Skies clearing and cooler air returning will drop temperatures into chillier territory overnight. We're in the 50s just after sunset, and we expect to start Wednesday morning with widespread 40s.
EXTENDED: The rest of the work week is mild and sunny. Our average high in early October is in the low 70s, and we'll be there Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures in the afternoons are expected back in the upper 70s to near 80 both Friday and Saturday. However, there is some uncertainty in a weak wave here, that could impact temperatures to a greater degree. Still, we are overall back to the 80s by Sunday and Monday as a warming trend returns.
