COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Public Schools said a police call to Hickman High School on Friday morning did not involve a student with a weapon.

Hickman principal Mary Grupe sent a message to parents on Friday about the call. The district said the incident involved just one student, which had been "fully addressed and resolved."

ABC 17 News saw some Columbia Police Department vehicles outside Hickman High School around 10:45 a.m. A reporter saw police bring one person out in handcuffs.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Colin Imhoff told ABC 17 News that one student was detained, but that there were no injuries or weapons involved. Neither CPD nor CPS gave details on what the incident specifically was.

Columbia Public Schools has already dealt with school safety rumors this week. Rock Bridge High School's prinicpal sent a message after parents and students shared with them a non-specific threat on Snapchat.

Grupe's message to parents reads in full:

"I want to provide a brief update regarding an incident that occurred today involving a single student. The situation has been fully addressed and resolved, and there is no cause for concern.

"Unfortunately, some rumors circulating on social media have exaggerated the details of what occurred. Please know that at no point did the student in question have a weapon.  We recognize that some on social media are saying this situation was much more serious and this is simply not the case.

"Students are safe and we appreciate your understanding and continued support in helping us maintain a safe and positive environment at Hickman."
