Tracking summer heat through the weekend, finally cooling next week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with lows in the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow will continue to reach around 15 degrees above average with highs in the upper 80s to around 90. Typically, we expect lows around 52 and an average high of 74 on October 23, but even the morning will be warm with lows in the mid-60s. We'll be hot all through the weekend as high pressure builds back north across the region. Expect sunshine and highs in the upper 80s Saturday and Sunday. A slow-moving cold front will be parked to our northwest on Sunday and Monday, keeping rain across Kansas and northwest Missouri. As this front approaches, the best rain chance looks to be on Tuesday with less than 0.25" total rainfall through early Wednesday. Despite the lack of needed rainfall, we'll get a long awaited cool down with highs in the low to mid-70s on Wednesday and Thursday.
