Reports: Mizzou football learns its three permanent opponents for next four seasons
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Southeastern Conference football schedule saga continued on Monday morning.
You might remember, during August the conference decided to move to a nine-game league slate, which will include three 'permanent' opponents for four seasons. The other six games on the schedule will rotate, as every team will face each other in both home and away match ups over the course of those four years.
The league is set to do an official schedule release on Tuesday, however, according to multiple reports, the Mizzou football team's three 'permanent' rotating opponents for the next four seasons will be Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Arkansas. That news was first reported by On3's Chris Low on Monday morning.
The Tigers will face the Sooners, Aggies and Razorbacks from 2026 to 2029.
There was quite a bit of speculation on which teams the SEC would place with Mizzou, as the Tigers have a couple of conference trophy games, including the Mayor's Cup game against South Carolina. However, the league reportedly decided to dwindle that down to just one trophy game, at least for the next four years.
Arkansas and Mizzou have met in the 'Battle Line Rivalry,' game ever since 2014 and that will stick around through 2029. The Tigers boast a 9-2 record over the Razorbacks ever since 2014.
However, there's also a lot of history between MU and Oklahoma, who were former Big 12 foes. The grudge fest between those two school returned in the 2024 football season, when the Sooners made their first trip to Faurot Field since 2010. Now, in 2025, the Tigers will be making their first trip to Norman, Oklahoma since 2011.
Overall, the Tigers do not own the advantage in 97 all-time meetings with the Sooners, trailing 25-67-5. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz and company do own the latest win, though, with a 30-23 victory at Memorial Stadium in 2024.
The Aggies of Texas A&M are also a former Big 12 foe for the Tigers, but that game hasn't necessarily been classified as a rivalry in the past. The two athletic departments do have some history, at least, as they both made the move over to the Southeastern Conference at the same time in 2012.
The SEC will do an official reveal of the three 'permanent' rotating opponents for its new-look conference slate on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on SEC Network.
