Tracking daily rain chances and mild temperatures into the weekend

TODAY: Thursday is mostly dry through the morning, and the majority of the afternoon. However, by late afternoon and evening some storms may develop in some modest instability that builds late in the day. The best coverage of precipitation at this point will be in better wind flow aloft to our west. This keeps us mostly dry up until the dinner hour. Highs are warmest in the east, where sunshine is stronger for longer. Expect highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

TONIGHT: Better coverage of storms will materialize in mid-Missouri from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m. The best chances for rain will be between 7 p.m. and midnight. We expect a chance for isolated strong storms capable of hail and damaging downbursts early in the evening. This threat will wane with sunset. Rainfall amounts are generally forecast to be less than a half inch, but under the best storms, we may see isolated amounts up to one inch.

EXTENDED: Few showers are possible Friday morning, along with a few storms in the afternoon. Rain chances are best in the far east, and negligible in the west on Friday. Most will stay dry, with highs in the low 80s. Saturday starts dry, but rain chances return from the west by the evening. This may bring rain to those in attendance at Faurot to watch the tigers take on South Carolina. This rain chance will linger into Sunday Morning. From here, confidence is low in exact track and timing, but rain chances look to linger in the forecast daily early next week. High temperatures are forecast in the low 80s over the weekend, and may dip into the 70s early next week.
