Tracking a few spotty storms, continued heat into next week

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers and storms possible overnight. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny with a few isolated storms, especially in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 90s.

EXTENDED: A few isolated showers and storms are possible this evening, especially across central and southeast Missouri where a weak low pressure system is working with a marginal amount of instability. Severe weather isn't expected this evening. The overall upper pattern holds through late week, with high pressure dominating the region, keeping temperatures around 10 degrees above average in the lower 90s during the day. Towards the middle of the week, the ridge begins to break down, allowing low pressure to move in from the west and trigger chances of more meaningful rain. Overall rain amounts through the end of the week will likely be under 1", not putting much of a dent in drought conditions. However, the upper low will allow temperatures to finally cool down, with drier weather and temperatures in the lower 80s approaching next weekend.
