Tracking more dry weather amid a warmup back into summer heat
TODAY: Monday is another cool and dry day. A great day to get outside awaits, as highs top out near 80 with low humidity, and a light south breeze.
TONIGHT: We'll add clouds this evening after a mostly sunny day. Temperatures fall into the low 50s by sunrise amid a continued south breeze.
EXTENDED: We're already in the midst of a steady warm-up that, by Tuesday, will have us back in the 80s. By Thursday, we'll have folks pushing low 90s during the heat of the day, if not by Wednesday for some in the south. This comes with dry skies as an upper level ridge builds into the region. Now, as the ridge (otherwise known as a "heat dome") builds in, we'll watch a few short wave disturbances try to bring rain a one or two days, but the root of the rainfall weakens before it makes it to mid-Missouri. Not only this, but any rain that makes it in will have to fight layers of dry air in place. Right now, the best shot is for a few sprinkles in the west on Tuesday. In reality, this is more than likely a few clouds in our sky, and little to no rain. The heat dome is squarely overhead into the weekend, keeping highs building into the low 90s. A few added clouds are possible as it starts to show signs of weakening, but any rain chances look incredibly low for now.
