Tracking afternoon scattered storms with a cooler rest of the week
TODAY: Wednesday is a warmer day with highs reaching the mid-80s thanks to more sunshine and some westerly flow. Most of the day will be dry, but shower and storm chances return by early afternoon north of HWY 24, and by 4 p.m. at the soonest between I-70 near and HWY 24. This places the best chances for rain near Columbia and Jefferson city between 6 and 10 p.m. As the front passes south, it will take rain through the lake to I-44 corridor during the late evening and after midnight hours. A few strong storms are possible, and may be capable of damaging wind or hail, but the risk is low. Rain totals could reach a half inch or more where the best rain falls. Many will see less than a quarter of an inch.
TONIGHT: Rain will leave likely well before sunrise, but clouds will likely linger through sunrise. for most.
EXTENDED: Clouds will clear, leaving us mostly sunny on Thursday. Temperatures get knocked back an inch as well, keeping highs in the 70s. Another cold front sweeps the region on Friday, bringing a slight chance for showers and more clouds. This will keep the cool air around through the weekend. We expect highs in the mid-70s and some lingering clouds for Saturday's game at Faurot. Conditions should be enjoyable for tailgating and any other outdoor activities. We'll see an increase in clouds into early next week, but rain chances are slim.
