Tracking a slow return to heat indices above 100 by the weekend

TODAY: Tuesday is mostly sunny and mild. Highs settle in the mid-80s through the heat of the day. Heat indices may reach the upper 80s, with slightly more humidity today.

TONIGHT: Skies remain mostly clear and winds from the east overnight. Temperatures remain in the 60s.

EXTENDED: South winds return on Wednesday, pushing high temperatures into the upper 80s and dew points into the high 60s to near 70. We'll likely feel like 90+ through the heat of the day. On Thursday, Highs in the 90s feel like the mid-to-upper 90s. It's more likely by the weekend that a temperature and dew point combo can yield 100+ heat indices through the hottest times of each day. This will be generally what we can expect to feel like Friday through Saturday. However, rain chances return Saturday night into Sunday, which will bring a chance for a cool down. Highs are forecast in the 80s Sunday and Monday given better rain chances. Rain may linger into Monday, keeping more mild air around at least another day before we trend back to heat.
