Mizzou pitcher, quarterback Sam Horn signs with the Dodgers

Mizzou quarterback Sam Horn became the second member of the Tiger baseball team to sign a deal with a Major League team, on Sunday. The dual-sport athlete put pen to paper with the Los Angeles Dodgers, after being drafted in the 17th round earlier in July.

Horn reportedly signed a contract worth $497,500. However, his signing will not affect his football future, at least for the 2025 campaign. On social media, head coach Eli Drinkwitz announced that the Georgia native will be around for the upcoming season, as he competes in an ongoing battle to be named starting quarterback.

The quarterback and right-handed pitcher pitched about 15 innings as a member of the Tiger baseball team, due to Tommy John surgery. In 2025, Horn pitched 10.2 innings, striking out 14 batters and only allowing five runs on seven hits.

Although Horn will be returning to play football, per NCAA legislation he will not able to return to the Mizzou baseball team for the 2026 season. That's due to a rule that allows athletes to play professionally in one sport, while maintaining collegiate eligibility in another.
