Tracking few rain chances and a short break from the heat

TODAY: Thursday is another ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day as heat indices once again near 105 this afternoon. Increasing clouds through the day may limit that threat in the west and northwest. Spotty showers can't be totally ruled out in the northwest this morning, but most will stay dry today until more scattered showers and thunderstorms return after 3 p.m. The strongest storms may be capable of strong winds, but the overall severe threat is very low.

TONIGHT: This rain will slowly drift into the region from the west overnight, leaving us with spotty to scattered rain by morning. Temperatures linger again in the mid-70s overnight.

EXTENDED: Heat indices are lower on Friday, as clouds and rain chances likely keep temperatures in the 80s to near 90 along and north of HWY 50. South, near the lake region and I-44, we expect more sun and heat. Heat indices may again reach 105+ in these regions. Some clouds and rain may stick around into Saturday, keeping us just shy of the most extreme heat again on Saturday, but it's worth noting that both Friday and Saturday will be warm and humid. However, More heat is expected Sunday into Tuesday, with heat index likely reaching 105+ each of these days. This will bring back our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day.
