Mizzou pitcher, quarterback Sam Horn drafted in 2025 MLB Draft

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou pitcher and quarterback Sam Horn now has a big decision on the horizon, after the redshirt junior was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 17th round of the MLB Draft, on Monday.

It's not a big surprise, as the Georgia native was actually one of the top pitching prospects in the nation coming out of high school. He chose to use those talents to come to Columbia and play two sports. He's grappled with injury in his time in the black and gold, including getting Tommy John surgery which caused him to miss the 2024 football season.

However, Horn returned to the mound for Tiger skipper Kerrick Jackson in 2025. The right-hander was second on the team with 4.22 ERA. Through 10.2 innings this season, he tallied 14 strikeouts.

On the football side, Horn has never been a starter for the Tigers, as he has worked behind MU alum Brady Cook. But, right now, he is in the midst of a competition for that starting QB role with Penn State transfer Beau Pribula, ahead of the 2025 season.

Horn will have until July 28 to decide weather he will sign a contract with the Dodgers and forgo the rest of his time at Mizzou.
