No. 2 prospect in Missouri pledges to Mizzou hoops’ 2027 recruiting class

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou men's basketball coach Dennis Gates made a splash to kick off his 2027 recruiting class, on Tuesday, as four-star guard Scottie Adkinson announced his pledge to the Tigers.
The Webster Groves star is the first member of Coach Gates' 2027 class. He chose the black and gold over other offers from Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
It is a big way for Mizzou to get things going in 2027, as Adkinson is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Missouri by both On3 and 247Sports. The 6-foot-2 rising junior is, according to On3, the No. 26 overall player in the nation and the No. 6 point guard.
He's found quite a bit of success in his young career with Webster Groves. In his sophomore campaign, he averaged 24.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists on his way to helping the Statesmen to the program's sixth-ever state championship in a win over Summit Christian Academy in March. Following that season, he was named All-Metro Player of the Year and Gatorade Player of the Year for Missouri.
Adkinson is one of the highest rated prospects to commit to Mizzou in program history, only behind players like Michael Porter Jr., Jontay Porter and Annor Boateng.
While Gates and company have now kicked things off in 2027, they are still working to find the first commitment of the 2026 recruiting class.
