Tracking several rounds of storms to kick off the week

TODAY: Scattered storms will develop across much of the area in the morning and early afternoon, but dry conditions are expected late in the day. This break allows temperatures to rise into the mid-80s, with the heat index reaching into the low 90s.

TONIGHT: Another round of storms will develop after midnight and may produce isolated strong winds, with the highest risk in northwest MO, including Marshall, Brunswick, Moberly, and Macon. Storms will likely lose strength as they move into Sedalia, Boonville, Paris, and Columbia, and areas southeast. Lows will be in the low 70s with overnight clouds.

EXTENDED: Storms will exit early Monday, but redevelopment is possible along and southeast of I-44 in the afternoon. Relief from the heat and humidity lasts through midweek, with highs dropping to the lower 80s through Wednesday. A gradual warming trend is expected ahead of the Fourth of July holiday on Friday, with highs returning to the upper 80s and pop-up storms possible from Thursday onward.
