Royals salvage one win in series loss to the White Sox

CHICAGO, Ill. (KMIZ)
First-year Royal Jonathan India played hero in the Kansas City Royals' 7-5 win over the Chicago White Sox, on Sunday. With a tie game in the seventh, KC's second baseman hit a tie-breaking RBI double to grab the first lead of the game, which his team never gave back.
India led the charge at the plate, overall, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. His clutch hit in the seventh seemed to give life to Kansas City at the plate, as Maikel Garcia capped off a two-run seventh with an RBI single into right field. In the ninth, India plated another run for insurance, while Bobby Witt Jr. sent his ninth home run of the season to the yard to give the Royals a five-run advantage.
Disaster almost struck in the ninth inning, when pitchers Trevor Richards and Carlos Estevez allowed Chicago to score three to get within two runs of KC's lead. However, Estevez did end up closing the door, striking out Tim Elko to end the ball game.
Sunday's victory salvaged one game out of a trying series for skipper Matt Quatraro and company. The group now sits at 34-32 overall and holds a fourth-place standing in the American League Central, 8.5 games back from the first-place Detroit Tigers.
Up next - the New York Yankees will come to Kauffman Stadium for an ALDS rematch. First pitch in the three-game set will be on Tuesday, June 10 at 6:40 p.m.
