Tracking rounds of thunderstorms over the weekend

TODAY: Friday begins dry early, but showers and storms are already working in before sunrise. Showers and thunderstorms will continue to lift north from the south where they have been ongoing this morning. Rain will be greatest along and south of a line from Warsaw to Montgomery City. Showers are spottier to the north and west today. Expect high temperatures in the 70s and variable light winds.

TONIGHT: Skies will gradually clear with sunset, leaving us mostly clear, and with temperatures falling into the 60s.

EXTENDED: Saturday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day as we have a chance for scattered storms during the afternoon. We expect highs to be kept in the upper 70s thanks to this rain coverage, still a few degrees cooler than average. For details on our severe threat read our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog online. Sunday will bring another chance of thunderstorms as a cold front sweeps in from the north. Ahead of it, enough instability may build back into mid-Missouri for the cold front to trigger another chance at severe storms. Our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day may need to be extended into Sunday as well, if timing aligns. A few showers could stream in from the north on Monday, but a generally drier trend is expected early next week, with rain chances very low.
