Tracking a mostly dry Thursday ahead of growing weekend rain chances
TODAY: Thursday is more welcomed dry time, despite some persistent clouds. A spot shower may come this afternoon, especially to those in the northwest. Highs reach mid-to-upper 70s amid a light northeast breeze.
TONIGHT: Clouds are broken this evening, becoming increasingly cloudy overnight into Friday morning. Lows settle in the 60s. Storms approach by sunrise for those near the lake of the Ozarks.
EXTENDED: A complex of strong storms will likely pass south of mid-Missouri, sparing us the severe threat and heavy rain. Still, some showers and storms are likely on Friday morning, as this complex passes south. Spotty storms could redevelop during the afternoon. Highs reach mid-70s. Saturday we are monitoring another chance at storms, as another complex of storms rolls in from the west. What makes this wave different from the other persistent waves that have missed us to the south is the atmosphere's ability to pull more instability farther north into our region. This will give us a low chance of severe impacts as they roll through Saturday, but generally just a better chance at storms in general. This is likely focused around midday, impacting morning but also lingering into the afternoon. Another round of rain is possible along a cold front on Sunday, but that will likely usher in drier weather for early next week.
