Tracking Wednesday showers and storms before a sunny weekend

TODAY: Highs warm into the mid-70s with mostly sunny skies. Winds remain out of the southeast at 3-5 mph.

TONIGHT: Clouds will increase this evening, leading to mostly cloudy skies overnight, and a chance for rain mostly after midnight. Winds remain light from the east southeast. Temperatures hold steady in the 50s overnight.

EXTENDED: Our main round of rain will hold off until Wednesday. Those in the south with a better chance at showers by the daylight hours will likely see temperatures stick in the 60s through the day, but those in the central to northern parts of the region will have a chance for temperatures reaching into the 70s. On Thursday, we'll have more shower and thunderstorm chances primarily in the south before a cold front pushes moisture out through the day. While best rain chances and totals will be south of I-70, everyone has a chance at rain over Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday, skies are drier and temps are cooler. We expect highs in the 60s to low 70s. A gradual warmup comes with dry conditions over the weekend. 70s, if not 80s are expected through the weekend into early next week. Small disturbances could impact the dry forecast over the weekend into early next week, but chances are very low for now.
