Mizzou run-ruled by Alabama, remains winless against SEC opponents

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Baseball's SEC losing streak has reached 21 consecutive games.

The Tigers (13-30) dropped their series finale 12-1 in seven innings to No. 18 Alabama (35-10), extending their skid of SEC series sweeps to seven straight. With Saturday's loss, MU has been run-ruled in five of its last seven games.

Sam Horn made his first career SEC start and pitched a scoreless first frame. However, the dual-sport athlete quickly ran into trouble when he returned to the mound for his second inning of work. After allowing two straight hits to begin the frame, Horn surrendered back-to-back home runs to Will Hodo and Jason Torres, which ignited an eight-run inning for Alabama. The sophomore right-hander was unable to record an out in that frame, ending his outing with five earned runs, four hits and one strikeout.

Mateo Serna supplied the team's only run of the game with a solo shot, his seventh home run of the season. Serna's third-inning blast was one of just five hits for the Tigers.

The Crimson Tide tallied 15 hits, including four home runs in Saturday's game.

Up next - Mizzou will meet Kansas for a midweek rivalry game on the road. First pitch between the Tigers and Jayhawks is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29 at 6 p.m.
