Tracking waves of rain and increasing flood risk

THIS AFTERNOON: Soggy and cool with temperatures in the 40s. Showers will grow in intensity during the peak of the afternoon, producing lightning, efficient rainfall, and possibly isolated hail.

TONIGHT: Rain chances shift southeast overnight as temperatures hold steady in the 40s.

EXTENDED: More waves of rain arrive on Saturday and Sunday, but rain totals drop each day. A Flood Watch remains in effect for counties along and southeast of I-44 through Sunday morning. Additional rain totals could exceed an inch in Jefferson City and 2 to 3 inches from the Lake to I-44 through the weekend. Skies clear out nicely on Monday and Tuesday, though temperatures remain below average in the 50s. A light chance for rain midweek will usher in warmer temperatures that look to persist into the long term.
