JEFFERSON CIYT, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was charged in a federal indictment on Wednesday for being a felon in possession of a firearm linked to a January arrest in Fulton.

A release from the Fulton Police Department said Lionel Gurley was arrested on Jan. 4 after officers were called to a possible shooting on Westminster Avenue.

Police say Gurley had a gun and a small amount of marijuana when he was taken into custody.

Officers said no people were injured and no property was damaged in the alleged shooting.

Gurley was sentenced to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to three felony charges back in 2014.

He could face up to 10 years in federal prison and have to pay $250,000 fine if he's convicted. Gurley is currently being held in the Callaway County Jail.
