Columbia teenager charged after shooting at house
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia teenager was charged with five felonies after he allegedly fired six shots at a house on Tuesday.
Elijah Butler, 18, was charged with first-degree stalking, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, first-degree property damage and drug possession. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, the victim stated that Butler had fired multiple shots and police saw bullet holes in the residence – including through multiple windows, a shutter and dry wall.
Ring video allegedly showed a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica -- registered to Butler’s mother – pull into the driveway. Butler was eventually seen holding a handgun and firing six shots, the statement says.
The victim claimed that they were with another person at the residence when Butler sent several text messages stating he would “shoot up” the residence and her apartment, the statement says. Butler had previously been in a relationship with the victim, the statement says.
Butler allegedly admitted to shooting at the home to police and said he tracked the victim’s location after finding it on his phone, the statement says. Butler’s mother and sister allegedly went with him to the residence and the mother allegedly told police that he did fire the gun, court documents say.
The mother also allegedly told police that she told Butler to hide the gun in a shed, which police found along with cocaine, the statement says.
