Officials identify missing toddler found dead at Lake of the Ozarks

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 2-year-old who was reported missing from a home at the Lake of the Ozarks was found dead Monday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office identified the girl as Iszabella Obryan in a release on Tuesday.

The release states Camden County communications received the call at 4:40 p.m. on Monday about a toddler who had been missing for about an hour in the area of Irontown Road in Roach.

Sgt. Kyle Green with Troop F said the Camden County Sheriff's Office found the girl in the water around 8 p.m. She was found near the 44-mile marker in the Bollinger Creek Cove. Green said it was a short distance from the home.

The Northwest Fire Protection District posted about a search on Facebook around 6:15 p.m., saying that crews from multiple agencies were actively searching for a missing child. A second post on Monday night said crews got the dispatch for the missing child at 4:43 p.m. They set up a search perimeter and started getting information about the toddler.

"Crews searched the home, wooded area around the residence, shoreline and docks in search of the missing toddler," the agency said in the second post. "Additional resources were requested from surrounding agencies utilizing drones, helicopters, boats, k9’s and thermal imaging cameras to aid in the search. After several hours of searching the toddler was located and CPR was immediately initiated."

Missouri State Highway Patrol's drowning report states the girl "entered the water in an unknown means." The report states the child was found next to a dock.

Camden County Sheriff's Office said the circumstances of her death are currently under investigation by detectives in coordination with MSHP.

"The outpouring of support during this tragedy is a reminder of the kind of community we live in," the Camden County Sheriff's Office said in its release. "We are extremely grateful for all the help we received from the community during the search for Iszabella and we ask for continued prayers and support for her family and for all the community members, volunteers, and first responders affected by this horrific event."

The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District said it was among the agencies that helped with the search. In a Facebook post at 8 p.m., the agency said it was helping with "Incident Command and drone operations."
