Tracking rain and storms Tuesday, isolated severe threat

THIS AFTERNOON: Increasing clouds and breezy with highs in the lower 60s.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and windy with lows in the lower 50s, and a few spotty showers.

EXTENDED: Scattered storms are expected by sunrise Tuesday, bringing heavy downpours and isolated small hail. Rain and storms become more widespread by mid-late morning, bringing the bulk of our precipitation for the day. If this first round clears out quickly, there's a small chance we could see a brief window for isolated strong storms with all threats possible through early evening. Much colder air moves in as low pressure moves overhead early Wednesday, and lingering wrap around precipitation could fall as snow as morning lows will be near the freezing mark. Little to no impacts are expected with snow, but winds will be an issue on Wednesday as gusts could top 40 mph. Strong winds will keep wind chills in the low to mid-20s on Wednesday as low pressure exits. Thursday will gradually warm into the upper 40s, and we'll end the week with another chance for light rain on Friday as warmer air moves in. The weekend is looking quieter with mild temperatures in the 50s.
