Tracking gusty winds and fire danger by Friday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cooler with lows in the mid-30s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 50s to near 60.
EXTENDED: We'll reach the upper 50s to around 60 again tomorrow despite northwest winds. Friday is the most windy day as we see winds pick up to about 30 mph from the southwest, sending highs into the upper 60s, but we may even have some near 70s across our southern counties. With continued drought, low humidity, and strong winds in addition to the warm up, we'll have an elevated fire danger on Friday. I'm tracking a dry cold front that will bring chillier temperatures for the weekend, but we're looking dry with highs in the upper 40s. A closed off low pressure system will nudge into the region by Sunday night, bringing a chance for some late night rain. Scattered showers are possible through Monday before the system swings through to our north Tuesday night. Tuesday looks like our best bet for widespread rain and storms with the cold front, particularly in the afternoon. We reach the mid-60s as we'll be on the warmer side of this system, so we'll keep an eye on any severe potential as we get closer. Ingredients are already starting to come together just to our south. Rain totals between Sunday and Tuesday will add up to about an inch or just under. We'll be cooler behind that system with highs in the upper 40s by next Wednesday.Â
