Mizzou loses to Ohio State on day two of Clearwater Invitational

CLEARWATER, Fla. (KMIZ)
No. 16 Mizzou Softball has suffered its third loss in four games.
The Tigers (5-4) fell to Ohio State (5-1) in their third game of the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational 7-2 on Friday evening. MU has surrendered 28 runs in its last four contests.
Taylor Ebbs delivered a two-RBI double in the first frame to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead, but those were the only two runs that Mizzou was able to drive home. MU finished the game with just five hits, courtesy of Ebbs, Julia Crenshaw, Kara Daly, Claire Cahalan and Saniya Hill.
Ohio State trailed for the first three innings but took the lead with six-run, fourth inning that featured seven hits. Cierra Harrison was charged with all seven runs in Friday's defeat, giving up seven hits and striking out six batters. Nathalie Touchet posted an excellent effort out of the bullpen, pitching a career-best three shutout innings and allowing just four hits.
Up next - Mizzou wraps up Clearwater Invitational action with a Saturday doubleheader against Liberty and San Diego State. MU's first game against the Flames is scheduled to get underway on Feb. 15 at 9:30 a.m.
