New bacon facility expected to create 200 jobs in Moberly
MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A meat packaging company plans to build a facility in Moberly that would create hundreds of new jobs.
According to a news release from Missouri Partnership, Plumrose USA is planning to build a new facility that will produce fully-cooked bacon.
Officials said the factory is expected to create 200 new jobs.
The news release included a statement from Gov. Mike Parson, who praised the new facility.
“We are excited to welcome Plumrose USA to Moberly, Missouri,” said Parson. “The company’s decision to expand in our state is a testament to Missouri’s world-class workforce, strong economy, and business-friendly climate.”
The release also had a statement from Plumrose USA's president.
“This project emphasizes our strategic commitment to grow our business, be a stronger partner for our customers and the communities where we operate and to provide increased opportunities for our team members,” said Tom Lopez.
Missouri Partnership did not say when the facility is expected to open.
Rob Dixon, the director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, tweeted his reaction to the news Tuesday afternoon.
According to its website, Plumrose USA is headquartered out of Chicago, IL. The website said it started out as a sliced ham company in 1932 and the business really started to grow after JBS USA acquired the company in 2017.
