Mizzou prepares for season opener with annual Black & Gold Game
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
No. 15 Mizzou Softball is putting the finishing touches on preparation for its season opener.
The Tigers held their annual Black & Gold Game at Devine Pavilion on Sunday ahead of a road trip to the Sunshine State for the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic. Team Black defeated Team Gold 10-4 in the scrimmage, highlighted by a three-hit, two-homer performance from infielder Kara Daly.
"I thought we made some really good defensive plays. I think [Madison] Uptegrove had an unbelievable day at shortstop. We had some great outings by Saniyah Hill at third base. Her reaction at third base has been real impressive," head coach Larissa Anderson said, regarding her takeaways from her players' performances in the Black & Gold Game. "I think the top of our lineup with a lot of our returners had really great days at the plate, hit the ball extremely hard. Kara Daly is obviously one of them, and then, I think the top two pitchers with [Marissa] McCann and [Cierra] Harrison had really good outings and were extremely competitive."
