Man wanted in relation to Boone County overdose deaths arrested in Indiana

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who was wanted on charges related to a pair of overdose deaths in 2023 was arrested in Indiana and was brought to the Boone County Jail.
Marcus Larkins, 20, of Columbia, was charged on Oct. 24, 2023, with second-degree drug trafficking, tampering with evidence, three counts of stealing a gun and four counts of unlawful use of a weapon. Court records indicate that he was arrested in Marion County, Indiana on Jan. 16.
He is now being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. An initial court appearance was held Monday afternoon and a hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Another man, Devin Weakley, 24, of Columbia, was charged in the case in 2023 with second-degree drug trafficking, tampering with evidence, three counts of stealing a gun and four counts of unlawful use of a weapon. A hearing in his case is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3.
The probable cause statement says two people were found dead in the 2800 block of Blackfoot Road on Oct. 13, 2023, from a suspected overdose. White powder was found and tested positive for fentanyl, according to the statement.
The statement says multiple witnesses allegedly pointed out a trailer where the drugs were sold and one person allegedly told law enforcement he gave money to the pair in order to buy drugs.
A search warrant was executed and fentanyl was found in the trailer, court documents say. Weakley’s name was found on documents in the trailer, the statement says.
A witness claimed they saw a man throw away a backpack into the woods near the trailer and was able to identify Larkins after they were shown an image by police, the statement says. Police allegedly spoke with Larkins at the scene and Larkins allegedly admitted to being in the trailer with another person present.
The backpack was eventually found and fentanyl was found, as well as multiple guns, the statement says.
