Tracking a cold start but a more mild afternoon

TODAY: Friday starts frigid, with light winds. We'll have temperatures in the single digits, feeling near zero. As the day progresses, winds will pick up from the south. This will be somewhat bitter-sweet as we will warm quickly, but have to deal with wind chills through the day. Highs reach mid-30s, initiating more melting, but wind chills remain in the 20s through the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Overnight, winds remain southerly - keeping us mild overnight. Temperatures fall into the low 20s overnight, keeping wind chills in the teens at coldest.

EXTENDED: Saturday's winds continue from the south until a cold front arrives midday. This puts highs in the 40s and wind chill values in the 30s. We'll pick up clouds on Saturday and keep them through Sunday, but we remain dry, with the cold front pushing away gulf moisture to the south. The front leaves us us cooler on Sunday, when highs are expected in the 30s. This will be short lived, though, as sunshine and highs in the 40s to near 50 return early next week.
