Suspect in Pulaski County standoff charged with shooting wife

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who had a five-hour standoff with law enforcement officers this week in Richland seemingly tried to gun down his wife as she returned home, before she even got out of her vehicle, according to court documents.
Joshua R. Hackmann was charged Thursday with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. He was hospitalized after being shot by authorities Wednesday night outside his home on North Pine Street, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office said. Hackmann allegedly went into his house after being shot and kept officers in a standoff for five hours.
Hackmann was flown to a hospital after he surrendered at the end of the standoff.
Hackmann's wife told investigators that Hackmann, armed with a pistol and laser sight, shot her from the doorway of their house after she pulled into her driveway, according to court documents. A probable cause statement says the woman got out of her car and ran to a neighbor's house after being hit in the arm and that Hackmann was shooting at her while she ran.
Bullets hit a neighboring house and vehicle, the statement says.
The court issued a warrant for Hackmann's arrest with a $500,000 bond. He was not in the Pulaski County Jail on Friday morning.
