Tracking a cold night followed by a late week warm up

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the single digits.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and slightly warmer with highs near the freezing mark.

EXTENDED: Lows are expected to drop off into the upper single digits thanks to clear skies and snow cover tonight. As high pressure center slides to our south, we'll see a nice wind shift to the south, sending temperatures back into the lower 30s for the day. We'll gradually warm up the rest of the week with a gorgeous Friday ahead. We can expect things to be muddy on Friday as temperatures increase to about 50 degrees by late afternoon. Unfortunately, the warm up is short lived as another low pressure system moves in from the west and brings a shot at rain Friday night, and perhaps a few snow showers on the back side on Saturday morning as precipitation moves out and temperatures drop. Little to no impacts are expected at this time, but we will hunker down for another cold weekend as temperatures stay near the freezing mark on Saturday and get even colder on Sunday on into next week as highs fall into the teens. We'll likely be issuing a Weather Alert Day for a couple days as the morning low temperatures could fall into the single digits for multiple days, but the first potential for that won't be until Sunday or Monday.
