COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Tipton man was seriously injured in a crash on Thursday in Moniteau County after ice flew off another vehicle.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report says that the crash occurred in the northbound lane of Highway 5 near Route NN.
A large piece of ice fell off an unknown vehicle and hit the windshield of a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado – driven by a 60-year-old man from Tipton – the report says. The Chevrolet went off the left side of the road and hit a fence, the report says.
The man was brought to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance, the report says. The Chevrolet was totaled.
Area law enforcement has been asking drivers to clear snow and ice from their vehicles prior to traveling. The Jefferson City Police Department posted notification on its social media about clearing the top of cars on Thursday.
