One man seriously injured in shooting in northern Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police tape was put up Friday night as police responded to a shots heard call in the 1200 block of Blue Ridge Road near the intersection of Northland Drive in northern Columbia.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Brian McNeill told ABC 17 News at the scene that police responded to a shots-fired call at 9:10 p.m. A man was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound, McNeill said. The man is in serious condition.

According to a press release from the department, the victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

McNeill said that no one in connection to the shooting has been arrested, but did say there was no continuing threat to the public.

Police did not specify the number of shots fired.

Five Columbia Police Department vehicles were at the scene. Another passenger vehicle was seen inside the taped-off area.

A tow truck arrived on the scene at 10:51 p.m.

The road was opened back up for traffic around 11:10 p.m.
