Corn truck fire affects traffic on Mexico bypass

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A tractor-trailer fire in Mexico, Missouri, affected traffic on a main thoroughfare Monday.

The Mexico Department of Public Safety says personnel were called to a fire on the Highway 54 bypass at about 7 a.m. A 2000 Peterbilt hauling corn was on fire and the cab was fully involved, according to a news release.

The trailer collapsed during salvage and corn was being off-loaded so the trailer could be removed, the release says. Delays were expected throughout the day Monday.

No one was hurt and the cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday afternoon, the release says.
