Jefferson City man gets 25 years in prison for shooting at Columbia home

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison after he was convicted of shooting at a Columbia woman's home.

Johnathan Mosley, 41, was convicted in October of first-degree property damage, armed criminal action, first-degree stalking, shooting at a vehicle/home and two misdemeanors: fourth-degree domestic assault and fourth-degree assault. He was accused of firing 10 shots at a woman’s house and vehicle on Aug. 22, 2022, after sending threatening text messages and phone calls.

Police found bullet holes in the victim's home and vehicle.

Judge Joshua Devine handed down the punishment, including 15 years for the charge of shooting at a vehicle or building. Some of Mosley's sentences will run back-to-back, totaling up to 25 years.

“This 25-year sends a clear message that gun violence will not be tolerated in our community,” Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Roger Johnson said in a news release.
