Osage Beach police arrest teen in connection with school threat

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KMIZ)

Osage Beach police said Friday that they arrested a teenager in connection with a threat that led School of the Osage to cancel nighttime events.

The Osage Beach Police Department posted a news release on social media Friday afternoon saying a 15-year-old had been arrested in connection with the Thursday threat scare. Police did not provide details of what the 15-year-old is suspected of doing.

The Osage Beach Police Department got a call at 3:12 p.m. regarding a threat that middle school staff received over the phone, a news release says.

Police from three agencies -- the Osage Beach Police Department, Miller County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol -- responded to the scene.

The middle school delayed dismissal to ensure everyone's safety.

The Osage Beach Police Department's investigation is active but the threat is not, according to the release. Police and school officials have given no other details about the nature of the threat or suspects.

However, officials in the news release promised to prosecute any suspects "to the fullest extent of the law."

Osage Beach police, the city government and School of the Osage officials all declined to comment.
