Purdue fires coach Ryan Walters after going 5-19 in his two seasons

A historically poor season has led Purdue athletic director Mike Bobinski to fire coach Ryan Walters after just two seasons at the helm. Walters went 5-19 in his tenure with the Boilermakers while posting a 3-15 mark in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers finished 1-11, set a school single-season record by losing their final 11 games, went winless in conference play for only the third time since 1947 and failed to beat an FBS opponent for the first time since 2013 and only the second time in college football’s modern era. The Boilermakers still owe Walters nearly $9.5 million on his original five-year deal.
