Wrong-way driver causes multi-vehicle crash in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A three-vehicle crash that injured five people shut down an area of Highway 50/63 on Thursday in Jefferson City, according to a crash report from the Jefferson City Police Department.

According to the report, a 2014 BMW 320I was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50/63 and hit a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox and 2018 Ford Edge that were heading eastbound near the Lafayette Street ramps.

The report says that two drivers and one passenger were brought to area hospitals and two people were released from the medical care at the scene.

Highway 50/63 was closed for roughly two hours, the report says. RAVE alerts about the closure were also sent at 2:16 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
