Kentucky man charged with child sex crime now in Callaway County Jail
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Kentucky man who was charged with a child sex crime in October is now in the Callaway County Jail.
Edward McPherson, 28, of Rochester, Kentucky, was charged on Oct. 17 with sexual misconduct involving a child younger than 15 years old. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail on a $20,000 bond. He was booked into the jail at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
McPherson applied for a public defender during a Wednesday hearing. A bond hearing was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.
According to the probable cause statement, a mother walked in on their child in December 2023 while they were unclothed and on the phone with a man. The mother called the phone number back using FaceTime and McPherson answered, the statement says. The victim allegedly told the parent that McPherson lived in Kentucky.
The mother gave the phone to Holts Summit police, who analyzed the phone and found a video of McPherson, as well as messages between him and the victim, court documents say. Messages appeared to show McPherson sending and asking for explicit messages from the child, court documents say.
