Centralia man charged with causing death while driving drunk
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Centralia man was charged Tuesday with causing another person's death in an Osage County DWI crash.
Nathan L. Timpe, 20, was charged with DWI causing death, two counts of DWI causing serious injuries and one count of careless driving, a misdemeanor. Timpe was driving a Jeep Wrangler in Osage County last month when it went off the road, rolled and hit three trees, a crash report says.
Riley Pipes, 19, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the Jeep. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Timpe registered a .109 on an alcohol breath test, according to a probable cause statement. The legal limit to drive is 0.08.
Timpe allegedly told investigators that he was trying to avoid a deer in the road when the crash happened.
Timpe was issued a criminal summons. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 7.
