Tracking a big cool down, rain ahead of holiday travel

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few pre-dawn sprinkles or showers. Lows in the lower to mid-40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy early and breezy with wind gusts up to 25 mph. Temperatures falling to the low 40s by late afternoon.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a cold front out to our west that will eventually bring clouds and perhaps a few light showers to areas along and south of I-70 late tonight into tomorrow morning. Temperatures will rapidly drop off after rising to near 70 this afternoon, and fall into the low 40s by late tomorrow afternoon. Gusty winds stick around, bringing the wind chill into the upper 30s. Tuesday morning is much colder with this air mass in place as lows drop into the mid-20s. Another low pressure system will move into the region and slide to our south on Wednesday, bringing a shot at rain to parts of the area. Once that front moves through, we'll be even chillier for Thanksgiving with some lingering precipitation around early in the day. That most likely falls as light rain with highs in the upper 30s locally for the holiday. Friday into the weekend will be quite cold, with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens to low 20s. We could see a few more clouds or even some flurries on Saturday as a weak clipper system slides through.
