Tracking a weekend warmup and a cool Thanksgiving week
TODAY: Friday is cloudy, with winds from the north sustained around 10 mph, gusting to 15-20 mph at times. This keeps us calmer than yesterday, but just about as cold, with highs in the mid-40s.
TONIGHT: Temperatures fall below freezing tonight, with temperatures near 30 and lingering clouds.
EXTENDED: Saturday sees more sunshine, but also south winds, and the combination should leave us in the 50s by the afternoon. A warmup continues through Sunday, with highs reaching 60s. A cold front sweeps through Sunday night and Monday morning, likely leaving us a few sprinkles but not much more. Temperatures fall back into the 40s for highs through early next week. The cold front from early in the week, will settle south of mid-Missouri, but likely stall not far from us as the jet stream sits overhead. The upper level jet may send waves along the stationary boundary, keeping rain chances nearby to just south of us Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day. With the focus of next week's rain south of us, chances for rain are low, and we may still end up dry through the holiday. Signs for colder air linger just beyond Thursday into the holiday weekend.
