Police arrest Columbia man on suspicion of shooting gun near McKee Street Park
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Police arrested an 18-year-old Columbia man on suspicion of firing shots in the area of McKee Street Park.
Alex Keitt, 18, was arrested Wednesday after police served warrants in the 1900 block of North Waterfront Drive and the 1400 block of Grindstone Plaza Drive, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. Keitt's home address is on Grindstone Plaza Drive, according to jail records.
Keitt was charged Thursday with 10 felonies, including four counts unlawful use of a weapon and five counts of armed criminal action. He is also charged with first-degree assault.
Officers were sent to the 1900 block of McKee Street on Tuesday afternoon on a report of a fight with shots fired. Several witnesses told police that a group of juveniles was involved in a fight and that shortly afterward shots were fired near McKee Street and Rice Road, the release says.
The release says officers found property damage and shell casings.
A probable cause statement says police saw video of the fight and it showed Keitt pointing a gun at another person. Videos also showed him hanging out the window of a Kia, the statement says. Police suspect the Kia was the source of the casings found at the intersection.
Officers found gunshot damage in a home and a minivan in the area, the statement says. The Kia turned out to be stolen.
Keitt was in the Boone County Jail on Thursday afternoon without bond. Charges were not yet posted in online court records.
