Soil testing along Forum Boulevard in Columbia to cause traffic impacts

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Traffic impacts are expected to occur later this week along Forum Boulevard in Columbia as contractors conduct soil tests.

Contractors for the City of Columbia Public Works Department will drill to collect soil samples along Forum Boulevard between Chapel Hill Road and Woodrail Avenue as part of the Forum Boulevard Improvement Project, the a Monday press release from the city says. Soil collection begins Thursday and is expected to last through Nov. 29, weather permitting.

Two-way traffic will continue, but lane shifts and narrowing may occur during daytime hours, the release says. For pedestrians and cyclists, some areas near the Hinkson Creek bridge will have restricted access, the release says.

“While the MKT Trail will remain open, expect narrowing and traffic control measures on the trail near the Forum Boulevard tunnel,” the release says.

Construction for the improvement project is expected to begin in the summer of 2026.
