BUFFALO, N.Y. (KMIZ)

There are officially no more undefeated teams left in the NFL.

On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season, 30-21, at Highmark Stadium. Head coach Andy Reid and company are now 9-1 in 2024, but still sitting atop of the AFC.

Reid and his team had not lost a game since falling to the Las Vegas Raiders on Dec. 25, 2023.

The two rivals traded punches for four quarters, but the final hit came courtesy of the legs of Bills quarterback Josh Allen. With a 23-21 lead in hand, the 6-foot-5 Buffalo QB ran 26 yards for a touchdown with a little more than two minutes left to ice the game against Kansas City.

Allen ended the day completing about 67 percent of his passes for 262 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He and his offense came out swinging out of the gates, as they stormed 65 yards down the field on the opening drive to take a 6-0 lead, after a missed extra point.

The Chiefs took a lead of their own in the second quarter. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed an 11-play, 88-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy. That put his team up 7-6 in enemy territory.

But, as was the story of the game, every single Kansas City scored, Buffalo had a response.

Reid and company only had one more lead in the loss at Buffalo, courtesy of a second quarter touchdown pass to tight end Noah Gray, which put KC up by one point. However, the Bills still managed to take a lead into halftime, as Allen drove his team 62-yards for a drive that ended in a 33-yard field goal to give the home team a 16-14 advantage.

Down by nine points with about two minutes to play, Mahomes and company did have one more chance to try to make some sort of magic happen, but to no avail. Kansas City fans had gotten used to ridiculous, crazy wins in 2024, as four of the team's nine victories were won on the last play of the game.

Mahomes completed nearly 70 percent of his passes, on Sunday, going for 196 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

His go-to guy was Worthy, who caught four passes for more than 60 yards and that one touchdown.

Despite a day where three Kansas City defensive players registered a team-high eight tackles, the effort from coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's group was not enough for the 10th win of the season.

Up next - the Chiefs will get ready for a game at Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 24. Kickoff against the Panthers is slated for 12 p.m.
