7 people are killed in Pakistan when a militant’s car bomb accidentally explodes

Associated Press

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Police in Pakistan say that a car bomb accidentally went off at the house of a Pakistani Taliban militant in the northwest of the country, killing at least two children and five suspected militants. Police said the explosion happened in the city of Mir Ali in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province before dawn Thursday when a militant was fitting a bomb in a car. Also Thursday, a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle set off an explosive device prematurely on a deserted road in Charsadda district, killing himself but harming no one else. The target was unclear. The Pakistani Taliban are separate from the Afghan Taliban but have been emboldened by the group’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021.
