COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was charged with sex crimes after he was accused of raping a youth on Tuesday.

Kenny Newland, 26, was charged on Wednesday with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.

Court documents say Newland forced himself on the youth at a residence. Newland alleged the child initiated the contact, court documents say.

The victim allegedly told police in the heavily redacted statement that they told Newland “no” several times throughout the assault, the statement says.
