Flash flooding blamed for 5 deaths in Missouri, including 2 poll workers

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Flash flooding in Missouri has claimed five lives, including a couple who served as poll workers. Heavy rain fell over two days in parts of Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that a 70-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman died when their vehicle was swept away by flooding Beaver Creek in Wright County early Tuesday. The county clerk confirmed both of the people who died were poll workers. People in two other vehicles were swept away were able to swim to safety. Two other people died Tuesday in St. Louis County. A fifth victim died Monday in Ironton.
